When it comes to giving, both the Old and New Testaments are clear. God intends that we give back to Him a portion of all He gives to us. In Malachi 3:10, we are told to “bring the whole tithe into the storehouse”. Leviticus tells us that we are to give God the “first fruits” of all God gives us. Jesus, in the New Testament, raises the bar even higher when He challenges us to give from our hearts sacrificially - as did the widow in Luke 21:1-4, who gave even in her poverty.

Clearly, giving is to be part of the Christian experience. It is one of the ways we express our love for God and our gratitude for what He has done for us. The Bible clearly promises that those who make giving part of their walk with Christ will be blessed in ways we cannot imagine.
